CISE Technical specifications

This page contains technical information about CISE and provides guidance for a better understanding of the CISE building blocks (i.e., node and adaptors). The documents listed in the following sections can also be used for the procurement of new CISE services by any stakeholder.

Welcome Package

The Welcome Package brings all the resources and services available for the CISE Stakeholders together, grouped into four categories:

  • information (general and technical),
  • software,
  • technical and operational support,
  • training.

To receive the welcome package, please contact the CISE Support Team: mss@emsa.europa.eu

Architecture

This section provides useful material describing 1) how CISE works, 2) the architecture of the CISE Node (components and technological stack) and 3) the CISE Network.

Adaptor development resources

This section provides a set of links to the documentation describing the communication protocol and the technical interface between the CISE Node and the adaptors.

Available open-source software

CISE Sim

The CISE Sim is a thin client for testing the exchange of CISE messages with nodes and adaptors.

Functionalities:

  • Sends and receives CISE messages
  • Supports message signature and verification
  • Interfaces: Web UI and CLI

The software was developed by the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre and is maintained by EMSA. It is available for download at https://code.europa.eu/jrc-cise/cise-sim.

CISE generic adaptor

The Generic Adaptor includes the basic software components to build adaptors, together with an initial set of plugins that enable data conversion between some well-known data formats and the CISE Data Model (and vice versa). The software is publicly available under the BSD 3-clause licence (open source).

The CISE stakeholders may reuse and extend the source code to build their own adaptors, thus reducing the overall effort of development and maintenance.

The Generic Adaptor may be downloaded from the following URLs:

The Generic Adaptor requires a set of core libraries used in the CISE Node, available in the Welcome Package. If support is needed, please write an email to mss@emsa.europa.eu.

Technical and Operational support

To support the activities of the CISE stakeholders during the Operational Phase, EMSA have established a operational organisation and several support processes:

- incident and problem management;

- node configuration;

- node maintenance;

- node deployment;

- adaptor development;

- conformity testing.

To request support, please contact the CISE Support Team at mss@emsa.europa.eu
