CISE operational trials in the focus of the CISE-ALERT Project VIP Days
On 11-12 September, the CISE-ALERT Project VIP Days were held in the Italian Space Agency’s (ASI) headquarters in Rome, Italy. The event marked the final phase of the CISE-ALERT Project and centred on the use of CISE in a range of maritime surveillance activities at sea.
The CISE-ALERT Project was initiated in November 2022 to support the transition of CISE to its operational stage. Since then, a consortium of 6 Member States (France, Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, Slovenia, Portugal) and 2 associated countries (Finland, the Netherlands) has worked together to launch CISE as an operational tool used for information exchange among EU maritime surveillance authorities.
The VIP Days in Rome were held to share the outcomes of the CISE-ALERT project, and the tangible results obtained during operational trials carried out in the last phase of the project, lasting from May to October 2024. The project partners showcased how CISE was applied in pre-defined crisis scenarios, concerning the protection of critical infrastructures, fight against drug trafficking, SAR, pollution response, pre-arrival clearing, dealing with Illegal fishing and irregular migration. The event also featured a live demonstration of the use of CISE.
The event gathered representatives of the CISE-ALERT consortium, partners that joined during the project lifespan, as well as other stakeholders interested in CISE. It provided an opportunity for sharing best practices, establishing partnerships in maritime information sharing and fostering cooperation among all the CISE stakeholders.
