2024: Sustainability and technical assistance
Throughout 2024 we supported maritime stakeholders on the extension of the EU Emissions Trading System to maritime transport and on the provisions of the FuelEU Maritime Regulation.
We updated THETIS-MRV with a range of new functionalities, including for the submission of monitoring plans, and, together with the European Commission we developed tutorials, webinars, guidance, and other resources – to help stakeholders manage the transition.
Our cycle of studies on alternative fuels continued with new reports on synthetic fuels and an assessment of the potential of nuclear power. At the same time, we continued our work on underwater noise with the release of the NAVISON report.
In 2024, we continued to develop our pollution response toolbox, including integrating a chartered vessel with large on-site intermediate storage capacity for recovered oil at sea into our fleet.
The EMSA Academy continued to deliver learning services in 2024, and through the SAFEMED V, BCSEA II, and IPA III projects, we ensured the delivery of capacity building actions in beneficiary countries.
