What we offer

HR WHAT WE OFFER 100

If you work at EMSA, you’ll make a real contribution to our mission from your first day on the job. You’ll be based at our headquarters in central Lisbon, Portugal, working in an international environment, alongside approximately 300 colleagues recruited from all over the EU.

Where we are

We’re situated right beside the River Tejo in Lisbon, just a short walk away from the main tourist attractions and downtown areas. We’re based in a modern building which includes a conference centre and social areas for staff interaction.

Our building is situated in Praça Europa, just metres away from Cais do Sodré train and metro station, as well as the river ferry terminals, and bus and tram stops. A taxi to the airport from our premises takes around 20 minutes in moderate traffic.

Lisbon Airport has frequent connections to most major European cities as well as to regional and international destinations.

Work-life balance

EMSA is committed to providing working conditions that support staff wellbeing and enable staff members to achieve a healthy work-life balance while fulfilling the business needs of the Agency. We have a number of measures in place to reconcile professional and private life:

  • Flexible working hours.
  • 'Hybrid working,' a combination of working at the office and teleworking, where both modalities are considered equivalent.
  • Annual leave.
  • Maternity, parental and family leave.
  • Special leave in certain circumstances such as marriage, birth or adoption, and other family events.

Professional growth

EMSA has a proactive policy on staff training, to strengthen staff development capabilities by developing and expanding their knowledge, skills, and competencies. EMSA also provides access to language classes to facilitate integration in Portugal.

Remuneration and allowances

We offer competitive salaries that include allowances (e.g. family and travel allowances). Find out more.

Support settling in

The Agency can also help with some administrative tasks once you arrive, like getting a Portuguese tax number and registering for an ID card (if applicable).
