Patrol boats for fishing inspection & surveillance

Illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing is a concern for governments and citizens alike. It depletes fish stocks and impacts legal fishing activities as well as coastal communities. It also imperils the health and viability of our marine ecosystems.
Inspections and surveillance are key to the fight against IUU fishing, and for this, the Spanish Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food can depend on four new patrol vessels, all of which have been constructed to be sustainable.
The new vessels will last for at least 25 years, carrying out up to 3000 operational hours each year, and powered by hybrid engines. The engines give improved energy efficiency and produce far fewer emissions when compared with the previous fishing patrol vessels in the fleet. The new vessels can maintain a high level of readiness and preparation for continuous periods of at least five days with a minimum operational crew of eight people.
