Guardia di Finanza: towards an eco-sustainable future

A sweeping environmental mission at organisational level informs the Guardia di Finanza’s sustainability strategy in the workplace, which is underpinned by open and transparent communication.

To encourage "sustainable thinking," the "Green Guardia di Finanza" concept has been developed and disseminated via an electronic best practice guide, distributed via the corporate intranet.

The guide sets out the current and future measures being implemented to meet demanding sustainability targets, ensuring that everyone in the organisation feels informed and included in the environmental actions, and can actively contribute to them. It also sets out actions that can be carried out at individual level, to fully promote a sustainable culture within the Guardia di Finanza.

Some examples include the installation of water dispensers in larger barracks, with thermal water bottles made available to reduce the use of plastic. Work processes have been digitalised, slashing paper use. Members of the Guardia di Finanza are also encouraged to use the stairs instead of the lift, reuse discarded sheets of paper as notepads, and carpool with colleagues who live nearby.

Through providing guidance on best practice in the workplace, and ensuring clear communication throughout the entire organisation on the overarching sustainable mission, the Guardia di Finanza aims to ensure that respect for, and protection of, the environment become a stable, integral part of its organisational culture.
