On the 12 March 2019, EMSA organized the 18th CleanSeaNet User Group meeting. CleanSeaNet, the European Union’s satellite based prime oil spill monitoring service, is operated by EMSA since 2007. The Service is available to all Participating States including EU Member States, EFTA Member States and beneficiary countries within the support programmes EMSA is executing (Enlargement countries, SAFEMED IV etc).

The Agency organises annually the CleanSeaNet User Group meetings to report on the status of the service, identify areas for improvement to further incentivise pollution response and reaction, and enable the exchange of knowledge and best practices between Participating States. Within the support programmes, Turkey is a CleanSeaNet Participating State since 2011, Montenegro since 2013 and Albania since 2016. The support from EMSA’s project for the Enlargement countries made the participation of one officer from each of the countries possible.
