The first training event organised under the Black and Caspian Sea regions Project was held on 20 – 21 November 2017 at EMSA premises in Lisbon. It was dedicated to MARPOL Annex VI and it provided the participants from all projects’ beneficiary countries Azerbaijan, Georgia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Ukraine with an overview of MARPOL Annex VI, its compliance, monitoring and enforcement and it also focused on Sulphur Oxides, Nitrogen Oxides, emission abatement methods, alternative fuels to reduce GHG emissions and other related topics. Round tables and exercises were carried out with the active participation on behalf of the beneficiaries who also made presentations on how they implement MARPOL Annex VI.
