BCSEA Tutoring project on PSC for container vessels
Tutoring project on PSC for container vessels took place on 10 - 12 April 2019 in Batumi and Poti, Georgia. The event was organised by EMSA on the request of Georgia under the Bilateral activities Component of the EU funded Black and Caspian Sea Regions Project.
Eight Port State Control Inspectors from the Maritime Transport Agency of Georgia took an active participation in the three days training. The first day of the training was dedicated to presenting a thorough overview of the peculiarities of the container vessels through an analysis of the content and characteristics of Verified Gross Mass methods, Cargo Securing manuals, Documentation of dangerous goods, Stowage plan, Damage plan and Stability booklet.
The second and the third day practical training was held on board two container vessels at Poti port. The on-board training exercise included pre-inspection briefing, explanations on how to conduct a PSC inspection on a container vessel, specific documents to be checked and cross check with the cargo area, possible deficiencies and codes according to the Black Sea MoU procedures. The training ended with group briefing and reaffirmed the high interest on behalf of the participants in the topic.
