On 18 and 19 September 2018 a regional training “Enhance your knowledge on the STCW Convention and Code” took place in Kiev, Ukraine. The training was carried out within the bilateral activities’ component of the EU funded Black and Caspian Sea regions Project.
The training event was attended by 26 participants from the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, the State Service for Transport Safety, the State Service for Maritime and River Transport, Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, Marine Search and Rescue Service, State Hydrographic Service, Inspectorate for Training and Certification of Seafarers and others.
During the training the EMSA lecturers focused particularly on topics such as Quality Standards System, Programme and Course Approval and Monitoring, On-board training, Monitoring of Training and Assessment, Assessment of Competence, Certification and Endorsement, Near Coastal Voyages, Revalidation, Maintenance of Competence, Independent Evaluation etc. Each theoretical session was followed by workgroup case-studies to further enhance the knowledge and skills of the participants.
