SAFEMED IV Seminar on PSC in Morocco
EMSA organized the training on Port State Control in Morocco, from 7 to 11 October 2019, within the EU funded SAFEMED IV project. 14 inspectors from the Merchant Marine Directorate participated to the training.
Port State Control (PSC) is the inspection of foreign flagged vessel to ensure compliance with the international standards for safety, pollution prevention and response, and labour conditions on board vessels.
As a signatory party of the Med MoU on Port State Control, Morocco performs its inspections within the framework of the Med MoU. The seminar was directed towards further improving the understanding, implementation and application of the Med MoU procedures.
The EMSA lecturers provided a thorough overview of the various PSC phases, from pre-boarding to disembarking. Such bilateral activities allow a direct contact between staff of the beneficiary countries maritime administration and EMSA staff aiming at improving technical capabilities as well as on-the-job skills.
