Training, Assessment, Examination, and Certification of Seafarers course delivered to the Jordanian maritime administration

SAFEMED V steering group

The course was conducted from 14 to 24 October over 8 days in a synchronous online modality to staff of the maritime administration carrying out supervisory activities of maritime training institutions. The aim of the training, which included both lectures and practical exercises, was to familiarise the participants with the relevant provisions of the STCW Convention and the implementation of these provisions under national law, selection of assessment methods, organising assessments, and issuance and control of certificates.

The human element is a key factor in maritime safety and the education and training of seafarers therefore a crucial part of it. For this reason, the SAFEMED V Project actively seeks to support the compliance of beneficiaries with the STCW Convention and provides training and other technical assistance, including activities to enhance the monitoring of maritime training institutions and auditing of seafarers’ education and qualification system.
