2022 was an important year for maritime safety at EMSA, with the release of our flagship EMSAFE report – the first comprehensive overview of maritime safety in the European Union.

Throughout 2022, we had the safety aspect of sustainability in our focus as we produced reports and guidance on shore side electricity and the carriage of alternatively fuelled vehicles, to assist port authorities and Member State administrations.

And during 2022, the marine equipment e-tag, supported by our MED portal, was used for the first time!

Our Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) service started in 2022, to support the Accident Investigation Bodies (AIBs) of the Member States and other interested maritime stakeholders.

Our EMCIP platform was updated and improved, and we delivered a safety analysis of navigation accidents as well as our regular reporting.

And 2022 was a busy year for our cybersecurity work – we held our first ever cybersecurity workshop and hosted the second maritime cybersecurity conference, organised by ENISA.

2022 was a very successful year for our RPAS activities supporting Member States, with 11 operations, 8 of which ran in parallel. We supported with multipurpose maritime surveillance and emissions and pollution monitoring.

2022 was also the year in which CleanSeaNet marked 15 years of existence.
