Synthetic fuels for shipping: new report
EMSA has released a new report on the potential of synthetic fuels for shipping.
The report is part of a series on alternative fuels which already covers biofuels, ammonia, hydrogen, and wind propulsion.
In particular, the new report analyses the potential of e-diesel, e-methane, and e-methanol, which are renewable e-fuels, across a range of areas and indicators, including production, sustainability, availability, techno-economic aspects, and the regulatory landscape.
The report is available to download here.
In addition, EMSA has also released the second part of its study investigating the safety of hydrogen as fuel on ships. This latest module of the study series reports on the latest results of the reliability and safety analysis of equipment and safety-critical systems used in hydrogen-fuelled ships.
