UN Ocean Conference official side event
How can space technology play a role in monitoring and reducing marine pollution and enabling the decarbonisation of maritime transport?
EMSA and the European Space Agency (ESA) have joined forces to host a special side event on 29 June 2022, addressing the opportunities that space technologies bring in tackling pollution, and in facilitating greater sustainability in the maritime transport sector. The side event forms part of the United Nations (UN) Ocean Conference, co-hosted by the Governments of Kenya and Portugal.
By bringing together leading European organisations spearheading the sustainable green transition of the maritime transport sector and combating marine pollution, EMSA and ESA aim to contribute to the 2022 UN Ocean Conference, offering solutions to scale up the implementation of SDG 14 (Life Below Water).
The event will be broadcast live on YouTube from 13:00 to 15:00 Lisbon time on 29 June 2022.
