From 13 to 17 May 2024 an IMO audit (IMO Member State Audit Scheme – IMSAS) was conducted in Türkiye with the participation of all relevant national authorities involved with the implementation of SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, TONNAGE, LOAD LINES and COLREG. The activity took place in Ankara at the premises of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure – Directorate General for Maritime Affairs and in Istanbul at the premises of Directorate General for Coastal Safety. The aim of the preparatory audit was to familiarise the staff from the relevant Turkish authorities with the audit procedures and the interviews carried out by the auditing team. It was also an opportunity to detect and eventually correct identified gaps (if any) before the actual audit that will be carried by the IMO auditors.
