The State Maritime and Port Agency (SMPA) of the Republic of Azerbaijan with an external consultant selected by the EMSA’s database of experts performed an on-site audit of the local American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) in Baku.

The audit was meant to verify how the ABS fulfils the requirement of the IMO Code for Recognised Organisations (ROs); the relevant national legislation and the clauses of the written agreement between the two Parties.

The activity organised within the context of the EU financed project BCSEA II has the general aim to support the project’s beneficiaries to comply with the III Code (paragraphs from 18 to 21 on Delegation of Authority) and all applicable provisions of the international maritime conventions.
